‘The Bikeriders’ was a great period piece that gives insight in the motorcycle club culture of the early 60’s. The film, based on a ased on a true story, has a captivating narrative that is gripping, gritty and raw.
The performances, storytelling, cinematography, custom design, are all top-notch. The storyline becomes more compelling as the film unfolds, and the Vietnam subplot is adding dimension to the film. The gang culture and dynamic evolve throughout the film, and it keeps the audience’s attention.
Tom Hardy brilliantly echoes Marlon Brando mannerisms and creates an authentic character and Austin Butler reminded me of a young James Dean. Hardy and Butler were outstanding. Norman Reedus was also great and is a fabulous, animated character to add to any movie ensemble. Moreover, the themes of masculinity and brotherhood exudes on screen thereby engaging the audience.
The cinematography of the bikes and riders with the backset of suburban and farm country is wonderful.
In conclusion, ‘The Bikeriders’ is a well-crafted film with a unique storyline, excellent cinematography, and great performances. I highly recommend it!
