‘I Am: Celine Dion’ is a poignant documentary on a living legend.
The documentary covers Celine’s diagnosis and treatment of Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) which is a rare autoimmune neurological disorder that has impaired her ability to perform. SPS typically causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms and exhibits symptoms such as an unsteady gait, slurred speech or double vision – it has been totally debilitating and paralyzing for Dion. However, this exceptional documentary succeeds in encouraging and empowering people suffering from SPS or other similar neurological conditions.
Moreover, the film has beautiful clips of her outstanding career. As a big fan of her work, I found it to be very nostalgic.
The editing is fantastic, and I really enjoyed the soundtracks with beautiful orchestral arrangements.
I have watched many documentaries, but this one moved me so deeply and brought tears to my eyes. The film is relatable to everyone as it displays the unexpected turns in life and frustrating obstacles that we may encounter. This film felt like a love letter to her fans, and it is also a testament to human resilience and spirit. Celine is personal, natural and transparent even in life’s most fragile moments.
I highly recommend this documentary!
