‘The Whale’ is my favorite movie of the year. I was immersed into this film from start to finish. Darren Aronofsky directed a beautifully crafted, vulnerable and gripping movie.
It is extremely visceral from the first scene and doesn’t lose its grip until the touching, heart-wrenching last scene. The themes of redemption, self loathing, honesty, and the struggle to find real connection are profound.
Incredible and challenging performances, especially from Brendan and Sadie. I absolutely loved Brendan’s profound ground breaking performance. He is in full control of every scene and it’s beyond powerful.
Everything is just really immaculate – the writing, directing, acting from the entire cast, and the overall structuring of the cinematic experience. It’s not exactly an”enjoyable” experience, but it is a crushingly powerful film.
Overall, this is a fantastic film that will keep your attention for the entire runtime. This movie is phenomenal and an absolute tear jerker. I highly recommend it!
