‘They Shot the Piano Player’ is a animation film about the life and tragic death of Francisco Tenório, a jazz piano player.
This movie focuses on the life and disappearance of jazz piano player Francisco Tenório and the narrative is told through a mix of documentary and fictional feature style with real people and fictional characters within the storyline.
I thought the interviews were interesting as they give insights on the characters and Tenório. In addition, the interviews provide details about Tenório background, the mystery and some history about Latin America. In addition, the storytelling mirrors the disarray of a nation in political turmoil, while highlighting vibrant visuals and music. I think the best part of this movie is the musical soundtrack with good tones and sounds throughout. In addition, the pace was very well done. This movie is a symphony of sight and sound that resonates with the heartstrings of the viewer.
Through Francisco Tenório Júnior’s story, the film becomes a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity, an ode to those who vanished into the shadows but whose echoes linger in the soul of Brazil.
Overall, I thought it was a solid movie and I was interested to see where the movie was heading towards the end. I recommend this film.
