‘Lizziehead,’ directed by M.W. Daniels has a great balance of dark comedy with satirical subtext and emotional depth.
Charlotte Gould’s performance as Lizzie Barnett was layered with wit, humor, and emotion. I thought she did a great job! The movie and the characters felt real – they are depicted very realistically battling with their many needs, wants and insecurities. Below the surface is a script trying to pull viewers in to identify with these characters.
The film explores themes of identity, psychological trauma, and disillusionment in life. Moreover, themes of power and control were intricately woven, manifesting in both the internal power struggle within Lizzie’s mind and the external power dynamics between herself and her mother.
Overall, ‘Lizziehead’ was a great watch! I recommend this short movie!
*’Lizziehead’ won awards recently at the New York Monthly Film awards (Best Feature) World independent film awards Los Angeles (Jury Award) European Arts Festival (best short film) and The Best International Film (special award for best comedy) Festival and was a finalist at Cannes monthly competition.
