‘Alien: Romulus’ is an enthralling sci-fi thriller that takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its origin. The production team and director captured the essence of the 1979 first “Alien” movie.
The plot takes the audience on a riveting journey through a dystopian future where humanity’s survival depends on outwitting formidable aliens. The characters are well-developed, and their emotional arcs are compelling. Moreover, the film effectively balances its suspense and horror elements.
The soundscape design pays homage to the original sound to establish the alien universe.
Visually ‘Alien: Romulus’ is phenomenal. The practical effects animatronics, VFX and cinematography were top notch creating a visually stunning experience. The practical effects allowed the actors to interact with actual physical elements, creating realism that made the horror feel visceral.
According to the Hollywood Report, Director Fede Alvarez said: “For the creatures, we brought in all the guys from Aliens. They were in their early twenties when they made Aliens, and they were a part of Stan Winston’s [special effects] team. And now we had them at the top of their game. They have their own shops, and so we brought them all together to work on all the creatures, because we went with all animatronics and puppets at every level.”
If you’re a fan of Alien, I highly recommend ‘Alien: Romulus’!
