‘Apartment 7A’ is a prequel to the 1968 horror classic ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ starring Mia Farrow.
‘Apartment 7A’ is a stunning visual display with a psychologically deeper look into the background story on how young women were drawn into the Bramford building.
In ‘Rosemary’s Baby’, Terry briefly meets Rosemary in the laundry room.
The dialogue follows:
Terry Gionoffrio: The Castevets are the most wonderful people in the world. Bar none. You know, they picked me up off the sidewalk – literally.
Rosemary Woodhouse: You were sick?
Terry Gionoffrio: I was starving and on dope and doing a lot of other things. They’re childless, though. I’m like the daughter they never had…
I like the fact that the director used this character as the protagonist in the prequel.
Julia Garner (Terry Gionoffrio) delivered a solid performance and elevated the movie. Diane Wiest (Mrs. Castevets) was fantastic and captured the essence of the original actress from Rosemary’s baby.
The storyline is well paced, and I enjoyed the script. The movie maintains its mysterious and suspenseful essence and atmosphere.
Like Rosemary’s Baby, the film is shocking and heartbreaking. I really enjoy the cinematic display for the time period portrayed within the 60s rather than a modern version.
Overall, the movie is disturbing and scary, on many levels. I recommend this movie!
