‘Captain America: Brave New World’ marks Anthony Mackie’s debut as the lead in a standalone film as the iconic hero. Directed by Julius Onah, the movie explores Sam Wilson’s journey as he embraces the mantle of Captain America amidst political turmoil and personal challenges.
I attended a ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Town Hall event at Sirius XM where I was able to hear the cast and director discuss the film and their overall experience in the Marvel Universe. They talked about how each character’s storyline had a clear beginning, development, and resolution. They also discussed one of the major themes of this movie: empathy. The film presents a narrative centered on empathy and unity, with a focus on personal integrity and the significance of teamwork showcasing diverse characters.
I thought the cast was great. Anthony Mackie’s portrayal of Sam Wilson as the new Captain America emphasizes the importance of integrity, compassion, and standing by one’s principles. Harrison Ford stands out, and it feels as if he has been playing Thaddeus Ross since the beginning.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film’s dynamic fight scenes, and appreciated their intensity and choreography. I also loved the vintage aesthetic of NYC.
It is a solid movie that embraces the legacy of Captain America while forging a new path, making for fun and engaging. Check it out!
