The official trailer of Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sequel, ‘Gladiator 2,’ has been released offering a look into a new chapter of Roman warfare action.
I liked the opening scene to the first Gladiator, with a backstory depicting Russell Crowe. Based on the trailer, it also appears that the production team kept the thematic elements. I don’t think the trailer revealed too much about the narrative – they kept it mysterious. The cinematography, costumes, sets, and overall production seemed great and is welcomed especially given the drought of good films in Hollywood currently.
I understand why some people have mixed reactions. Some believe that there was no need for a sequel, while others have voiced criticism about the rap music. I strongly dislike the choice of music (No Church In The Wild” by Jay-Z and Kanye West). In fact, I think they should have used Hans Zimmer’s score or the original theme as it had a huge impact on Gladiator I.
The film is scheduled to release on November 22. I am looking forward to seeing it.
