I had the amazing opportunity to be a part of an exclusive Town Hall at SiriusXM in NYC (October 12, 2022)! The interview consisted of two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Jeff Beck and award-winning actor and musician Johnny Depp. During their American tour, the duo visited the Underground Garage with Stevie Van Zandt to discuss their music and being on tour together. It was truly a treat to be able to see them interact live in the studio.
The combination of: Guitarist, Jeff Beck; Bassist, Rhonda Smith; Drummer Anika Nilles; and keyboardist Robert Stevenson created wonderful musical chemistry that transcends into a dramatic and emotional side ranging from blues to rock to jazz fusion. It just blew me away.
Johnny Depp joined Beck on stage for the second half of the night where he did the vocals and shifted between electric and acoustic guitars. Johnny did a fantastic job with his take on John Lennon’s “Isolation,” The Velvet Underground’s “Venus in Furs” and my personal favorite Killing Joke’s great track, “Death and Resurrection Show.” The combination of Beck’s rooted instrumentals and Depp’s vocals added another dimension that was exceptional.
I am looking forward to seeing more of Jeff and Johnny in the future. Thank you SiriusXM for the opportunity. Thank you Jeff and Johnny for being so friendly and gracious to the studio audience as well!
