I rewatched ‘My So-Called Life’ TV series starring Claire Danes and Jared Leto recently! ‘My So-Called Life’ is a rare gem in television – the acting, directing, and writing was so perfect. It makes me sad that there was only one season!
The show deals with adolescence in such a brilliant way! It is so authentic and unique compared to other TV series today. Even though it was made in 1994, you’ll find that Angela’s narration resonates within this time period too.
This show is incredibly clever. The cinematography was fantastic, and the lighting and color palette was spectacular! I also loved the sublime score – in fact, I loved all the songs featured in this show. (R.E.M. – Everybody Hurts being a favorite).
Claire Danes showed what an amazing acting prowess she has, and she was incredibly relatable
Danes does a good job as an adolescent teenage girl struggling with making it through high school with all the peer pressure and relationship issues that come with it. I also loved Jared Leto as he makes the perfect mysterious Jordan Catalano.
