‘The Successor’ is an interesting psychological thriller. A Paris-based fashion designer Ellias Barnès (Marc-André Grondin) has a breakthrough in his career and he is poised to on a role as a creative director of the fashion house.
This movie has a lot character development. Ellias finds himself assuming the role his father played in an unconscionable crime. Without giving away the plot, I will say that the ‘The Successor’ is a chilling spectacle to watch from a metaphorical level.
Writer-director Xavier Legrand has created a thriller enriched with patriarchal power and the themes of this film is a metaphor for a much larger societal problem and is represented in a unnerving.
Overall, I recommend this movie!
The Successor just premiered in the Official Competition of the 71st San Sebastian Donostia Zinemaldia Film Festival.
